We are seeking an experienced and motivated Patient Safety and Governance healthcare professional to join our growing Quality & Governance team at an exciting time of change and development. This part-time role offers a unique opportunity for a registered healthcare professional, such as a paramedic, pharmacist, nurse, or allied clinician, to apply their clinical expertise beyond direct patient care and influence safety, quality, and governance across primary and urgent care services. You will work across multiple sites and services, supporting two established organisations as they come together to form South Coast Alliance in April 2026.
Working closely with the Head of Clinical & Quality Delivery, you will play a key role in patient safety, clinical risk management, incident and complaint review, audit, policy development, and regulatory compliance, including CQC standards. You will help ensure that clinical practice is safe, evidence-based, and consistently delivered across the organisation. You’ll be trusted to work autonomously, supported by an experienced leadership team, and given the opportunity to shape governance systems during a period of meaningful change. Main duties of the job
- This role supports patient safety, clinical quality, and governance across primary and urgent care services.
- Working alongside the Head of Clinical & Quality Delivery, you will help review clinical incidents and complaints, support audit and quality improvement activity, and contribute to meeting regulatory and professional standards.
- You will provide clinical input into policies and guidance, helping to ensure safe, consistent, and evidence-based practice across services and sites.
- The role also involves supporting medicines management oversight, clinical competency processes, and workforce compliance, including induction and mandatory training.
- You will work closely with clinical and operational colleagues, attend governance meetings, and contribute to a learning culture focused on safety, improvement, and high-quality patient care.

Job responsibilities
- Patient Safety & Clinical Governance
- Support the management and review of clinical incidents, complaints, and safety concerns.
- Contribute to clinical investigations, learning actions, and improvement plans.
- Support governance meetings and provide clinical input into assurance processes.
- Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Support compliance with CQC standards, NICE guidance, and contractual requirements.
- Assist with clinical audit programmes and quality improvement activity.
- Help identify risks, trends, and priorities for action.
- Clinical Standards & Policies
- Support the development, review, and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
- Help ensure consistent, evidence-based practice across all services and sites.
- Medicines & Clinical Safety Oversight
- Support oversight of medicines management, including controlled drugs, FP10s, and resuscitation equipment.
- Assist with monitoring clinical competency and safe practice.
- Workforce Compliance & Induction
- Support monitoring of mandatory training, professional registration, DBS, and induction compliance.
- Contribute to the development of standardised clinical induction and support processes.
- Work closely with clinical, operational, and corporate teams.
- Support the preparation of reports, audits, and assurance information.
- Represent the organisation at meetings as required.
Ways of Working
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously within agreed policies and procedures. The role requires strong organisational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritise workload. Some evening working (up to 8pm) and travel between sites will be required.

- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Confident using IT systems and clinical or governance-related data.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evening working up to 8pm.
- Willingness and ability to work across multiple sites.
- Experience working across multiple services or organisations.
- Experience supporting or delivering training, induction, or mentorship.
- Understanding of system-wide working across primary, community, and secondary care.
- Qualifications
- Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, GPhC or equivalent).
- Recognised healthcare qualification appropriate to professional registration.
- Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).
- Qualification or formal training in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, or risk management.
- Health & Safety or risk qualification (e.g. IOSH or equivalent).
- Experience
- Experience working in a clinical environment within primary care, urgent care, community, or NHS settings.
