The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team. We are looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef wanting to deliver a first-class experience at the world leading hospitality company Portsmouth Marriott Hotel. Located near famous landmarks such as the Spinnaker Tower, it has a range of amenities including Cast Iron Bar & Grill, our signature restaurant and fitness centre. The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel provides exceptional, personal, and friendly service whilst catering to a variety of guests. As the Junior Sous Chef you will:
- Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation for property banquets and events and restaurant for all meal times including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Utilise interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making; demonstrate honesty/integrity; lead by example.
- Lead shifts while personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications.
- Ensure Culinary Standards and Responsibilities are Met.
- Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviours.
- Collaborate successfully with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef.
- Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Assist in determining how food should be presented and create decorative food displays.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:
- Provide services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring the quality, standards and meeting the expectations of the customers daily.
- Improve service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed.
- Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
A successful Junior Sous Chef is someone who:
- Enjoys the fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Is a team player.
- Can communicate clearly (verbal, listening, writing).
- Is proactive, reliable and can support shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
- Has NVQ Level 1 and/or 2 (desirable).
