Hours: Permanent, Full-time

Travel requirement: Travel will be required throughout the Diocese.

The Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth, which covers three counties and the Channel Islands, serving over 30,000 practising Catholics across 135 churches, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Development and Fundraising, with a proven track record of delivery in significant fundraising campaigns to lead and grow our fundraising activity across our diverse and vibrant Diocese.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and supported by a Fundraising Officer, you will lead the development and delivery of fundraising and development activity across the Diocese and its parishes. Key priorities will include:

  • Grant funding
  • Legacy development
  • Growing local giving
  • Supporting major campaigns, including a multi-million-pound appeal for the renovation of St John’s Cathedral ahead of its 150th anniversary in 2032.

The successful applicant will be a strong team player, highly numerate with excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. They will be able to build trusted relationships with donors, parishes and partners, and help mobilise the financial support needed to enable parish projects and strengthen our growing missionary communities.
