Job Description: Are you passionate about women’s sport and ready to play a key role in a dynamic and forward-thinking football environment?
Portsmouth Women’s Football Club is seeking a passionate and experienced Physical Performance Coach to join our Pro Game Academy (PGA) until 30 June 2026, working 15 hours per week. In this role, you will be responsible for the physical development and injury prevention strategies supporting the next generation of elite female footballers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Player Development & Performance Strategy: Plan and deliver individualized gym-based and field-based strength & conditioning programmes. Conduct player profiling and monitoring, integrate injury prevention, and lead GPS data analysis.
- Rehabilitation & Injury Prevention: Collaborate with physiotherapists to develop reconditioning pathways, influence pre-activation routines, analyze injury trends, and adjust prevention strategies.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work within a high-functioning MDT, support decision-making on player readiness, and contribute to medical assessments.
- Innovation & Continued Development: Stay updated with research, contribute to R&I strategies, and undertake required qualifications and CPD.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential: BSc in Sports Science or related field, UKSCA or UKNSCA accreditation (or working towards), full driving license.
Desirable: MSc, EFAiF certification.
What You Bring: Minimum 3 years’ experience in elite sports, expertise with GPS systems, collaborative skills, understanding of professional football demands, clinical injury management experience, and ability to develop tailored training and injury prevention protocols.
