Job Purpose

To support the Inclusion leader to embed inclusive practice across the school and promote the highest standards of achievement and well-being for all pupils.

Key Accountabilities

  • To actively promote the School’s Equal Opportunities Policy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place.
  • To maintain awareness of and commitment to the School’s Equal Opportunity and Safeguarding (Child Protection) Policies in relation to both employment and service delivery.
  • To fully comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc, the School’s Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work.
  • At the discretion of the Head Teacher, such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above.
  • To participate in Continuing Professional Development schemes and Performance Management and contribute to the identification of own needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • To be an excellent practitioner who leads by example in the classroom.
  • To teach and plan for pupils who access additional school provision.
  • To provide administrative support to the Inclusion Leader.
  • To be the designated teacher for Children we Care for.
  • To provide absence cover for classes as part of the cover support team.
  • Assist the school in promoting the Christian ethos, aims and values of the school.
  • To ensure teaching and learning is inclusive for all pupils.
  • To plan, assess and deliver high quality lessons.
  • Support the Inclusion Lead to complete Local Authority directives and paperwork with regards to Inclusion, and the legal framework of EHCPs and Annual Reviews.
  • To liaise with outside agencies and support the implementation of guidance and advice.
  • Be the Designated Teacher for Children we Care for.
  • Support with the development of outdoor learning opportunities.
  • To actively support school activities, on occasion, such as staff training, parents’ evenings, staff meeting, which may require some out-of-hours availability.
  • To perform any other task or duty under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher.

  • Works with the inclusion team to support, challenge and monitor the development, delivery and evaluation of our curriculum so that it is inclusive.
  • Demonstrates positive, restorative approaches to ensuring high standards of behaviour.
  • Communicates and works in partnership with all stakeholders, maintaining effective relationships with staff, governors, parents and children.
  • Takes a full and active part in all aspects of our school community.
