The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our team working with Portsmouth residents and their carers in their own homes. We will accept applications from students currently in their final year of study. Until HCPC registration, salary will be adjusted to reflect this.

Your new role:

  • Using a strength-based model of practice, you will assess needs, identify outcomes and implement agreed action plans.
  • You will adapt methods of carrying out daily living activities to support individuals, facilitating choice and control in their lives, enabling participation in the community, promoting independent living and wellbeing.
  • You will use assistive technologies, specialised equipment and adaptations, where needed, to enable individuals to restore occupational performance.
  • You will provide support and guidance to clients and their families in their adjustment to disability and long-term conditions.
  • You will monitor and adapt action plans to ensure effectiveness and achievement and complete and document risk assessments to ensure safe practice whilst providing education and advice to clients, carers and professionals as required.
  • You will work independently and be responsible for managing your own caseload whilst managing case records within an environment offering a high level of support and supervision.
  • You will be fully conversant with statutory legislation and guidance and demonstrate that you implement this in your day-to-day practice.

Who is the person summary:

  • You will have a Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists or BSc Occupational Therapy or any Occupational Therapy qualification recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, and a current registration with HCPC.
  • With knowledge of Adult Social Care eligibility criteria, you will have clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently using your initiative whilst managing a varied caseload under pressure.
  • With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have competence in IT systems and electronic record keeping.
  • With the ability to travel across Portsmouth and access clients' homes, you will be flexible and responsive to changing needs and demands.
