The purpose of this role is to ensure timely and accurate financial assessments are completed for Adult Social Care clients and their legal representatives. The role involves detailed analysis of financial circumstances, assessing contributions to Adult Social Care, providing welfare rights and benefits advice, supporting customers or carers with benefit applications, and notifying clients of assessed maximum charge and contribution calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed financial assessments for Adult Social Care clients and their legal representatives.
  • Analyze client financial circumstances and determine chargeable contributions based on Local Authority funding.
  • Provide welfare rights and benefits advice to clients and clients’ carers, ensuring entitlement to benefits is maximized.
  • Support customers or their carers/spouse with benefit applications where appropriate.
  • Notify clients of assessed maximum charge and explain how contributions are calculated.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in a front‑line customer‑facing service within Adult Social Care or similar context.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, charging frameworks, and DWP welfare benefits applicable to people with disabilities.
  • Experience completing financial assessments and identifying entitlement to unclaimed benefits, means‑tested benefits, premiums, and state pensions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong numeracy skills, and the ability to interpret financial evidence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritise and plan workload.
  • Capacity to collect sensitive personal and financial information and provide high‑quality advice within the client’s home.

Benefits & Working Conditions

  • Hybrid working model – expected to attend office minimum 2 days a week (pro‑rata for part‑time).
  • Permanent contract, 37‑hour week.
  • Located on Floor 4, Core 5, Civic Offices.

  • Demonstrate a right to work in the UK; no post will be offered without it.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) at Standard/Enhanced level required prior to any offer of employment.
