Attendance Officer

10.5 hours per week (days to be confirmed) 0830-1200 term time plus one week

Band 4 - £25,201-26,473 (full time equivalent)

We are seeking to appoint a pro-active, hardworking Attendance officer to achieve our school's vision to improve outcomes through increasing and monitoring attendance. Knowledge of Arbor and previous experience of working in an educational establishment, would be an advantage as you will be expected to hit the ground running and deliver a high standard of work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include

  • Advise and assist parents/ carers to maintain regular school attendance for their children
  • Ensure registers are completed in a timely manner
  • Update attendance registers and contacting parents/ carers regarding lateness and absence
  • Collect and analyse attendance data to enable identification and tracking of pupil attendance
  • Implement strategies to promote good attendance and punctuality
  • Monitor and track whole school attendance & punctuality
  • Produce termly reports for the Headteacher and Governing Body on whole school attendance
  • Develop and maintain links with parents and children
  • Schedule and attend school-based meetings with parents/ carers where necessary
  • Produce paperwork to the Local Authority to issue Fixed Penalty Notices

The Ideal Attendance Officer will

  • Have strength in their communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a wide range of people both in person, on the telephone and by email
  • Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills to complete tasks with Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Be confident in using technology in the workplace, willing and able to learn how to use a variety of IT packages
  • Be child centred
  • Be confidential, positive and professional
  • Be honest, reliable, well organised and a good timekeeper
  • Be flexible and able to work under pressure
  • Be happy to support the school's Catholic ethos and have a commitment to the school's mission statement.
  • Value the importance of forming positive relationships with children, other staff, professionals and parents.
