Occupational Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Occupational Therapist or a student occupational therapist who is due to qualify imminently.

You will be using a strength-based model of practice, working primarily with disabled people and their carers in their own homes. You will assess, advise and adapt methods of carrying out daily living activities to support individuals to facilitate choice and give them control in their lives whilst enabling participation in the community and promoting independent living.

You will use assistive technologies and adaptations to assist, recommend and provide guidance to clients and their families/carers where appropriate. Managing your own caseload, you will maintain case records and will be responsible for collecting specified measures and completing risk assessments to ensure that risk in the service is managed effectively and recorded correctly.

You will also participate in the Occupational Therapy intake duty process and will be expected ot supervise unqualified staff and students.

You will have a Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists or BSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification, and a current registration with HCPC or be due to qualify imminently. With knowledge of Adult Social Care eligibility criteria, you will have clinical problem solving and reasoning skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently. You will have an understanding of interventions and approaches that can be used and of assistive technologies with the ability to make evidence based decisions.

A good communicator with the ability to deal with conflict, you will have good evidence based recording skills as well as the ability to travel around the city. Flexible and responsive to changing needs and demands, you must be able to organise and manage your own workload and time effectively.

Salary: Band: 9, £37,937 – £41,510 p.a, (£29,734 – £32,534 for 29 hours)

Up to 29 hours per week – working pattern to be discussed at interview.
