About the Role: Gosport Borough Council seeks a highly organised Executive Assistant to support the Chief Executive (CX) and Deputy Chief Executive (DCX). This role requires efficiency and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. As the Council progresses through Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), this role will play an increasingly pivotal part in ensuring the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive are effectively supported to operate at pace, manage competing priorities, and maintain strong governance and stakeholder engagement. The Executive Assistant will act as a trusted right-hand support, helping senior leaders to operate effectively by managing priorities, information, and relationships with confidence during a period of significant change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing proactive, high-level executive support to the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive, anticipating needs and resolving issues to enable effective leadership.
- Supporting senior leaders through LGR activity, including preparation for sensitive meetings, briefings, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Acting as a trusted first point of contact, using sound judgement and discretion at all times.
- Managing correspondence, prioritising and monitoring high volumes of communication.
- Administrative assistance to the Leader and Council Members.
- Assisting with HR-related administration, training, and performance reviews and supervising and mentoring the corporate services apprentice.
- Assisting with financial transactions, procurement, and budget management.
- Supporting with the organisation of civic events.
Who we are looking for:
- A positive and motivated individual who understands the importance of accuracy.
- Proven Personal/Executive Assistant experience with strong minute-taking and confidentiality skills.
- Understanding of corporate and political environments.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with senior officials and stakeholders.
- Confident, professional manner.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and diary management systems.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with initiative and discretion.
- Previous local authority experience would be advantageous.
