Your new role

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide administrative support across the ASC Care Purchasing Team and ASC Payments Team daily. You will be responsible for the accurate and timely recording of care package line items, accurate and timely provider payments, mailbox management and collation of team performance statistics.

The role will involve working within a busy, fast paced team, so experience of working in a busy office environment is essential to this role. With a high volume of email's, attention to detail is critical to ensure financial commitments and system set up is accurate to enable correct invoicing and payment functions.

As an ASC Finance Administrative Assistant, you'll play a key role in keeping our financial processes running smoothly.

This role will be solely based at the Civic Offices 5 days per week while you learn and develop the skills required. Once you're fully competent in all aspects of the role, the option of hybrid working could be explored - balancing flexibility with the needs of the service.

Who is the person summary:

With previous experience of working in a busy finance or administrative environment, you will have an understanding of Adult Social Care Services and commissioning practice. You will have excellent time management and written communication skills including letter writing and note taking. With experience of using Microsoft Office applications, you will have good analytical skills and a high standard of numeracy and literacy. The ability to work flexibly, deal with external providers, use your initiative and prioritise your workload is required as well as being able to work as part of a team or on your own. Attention to detail is essential and great communication skills which make a real difference to the people we support

As part of Local Government Reorganisation, current plans will see Portsmouth City Council combine with the district and borough councils of Fareham, Gosport and Havant and parts of East Hampshire and Winchester district councils to form a new, larger unitary authority for south east Hampshire.

We are working towards an implementation date of 1st April 2028, known as vesting day, subject to Parliamentary approval. Until then, we remain focused on maintaining continuity, supporting our workforce, and continuing to deliver excellent services to our residents throughout the transition to the new unitary authority.
