We are looking for a Neighbourhood Warden to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract to support our residents and the community to keep Portsmouth safe, clean and tidy.
Your new role
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll help maintain safe, clean and welcoming neighbourhoods across Portsmouth's housing communities. You'll carry out inspections of communal areas, identify and undertake minor repairs, respond to resident concerns, and work with tenants and leaseholders to promote responsible waste disposal and recycling. With regular resident contact, you'll need strong communication skills, confidence in dealing with challenging situations, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, the police and other partner agencies. As an active, community-based role, you'll spend most of your time out and about rather than in an office.

We're looking for a proactive, customer-focused individual who enjoys working in the community and making a real difference to residents' lives. You'll be confident engaging with a wide range of people, from customers and councillors to partner agencies and colleagues, using your initiative to resolve issues and deliver practical solutions. This is a varied, hands-on role that requires excellent communication skills, confidence working independently, and a willingness to undertake physical tasks, including walking estates, carrying out minor repairs, and supporting residents when needed. You'll also be comfortable using IT systems and must hold a full UK driving licence. If working off island you will be required to use your own vehicle for work purposes.
