At Ports of Jersey, we're looking for an Energy and Utilities Technician to help drive energy efficiency across our airport, harbour and property estate. Using data and performance monitoring, you'll identify energy-saving opportunities, track consumption trends and support initiatives that reduce costs and carbon emissions.
You'll be responsible for
- Analysing energy consumption data and identifying savings opportunities.
- Monitoring performance against energy targets and reporting insights.
- Supporting the delivery of our Energy Management Strategy.
- Researching and implementing innovative energy-saving technologies.
- Promoting energy awareness across the business.
Ideally, you’ll also be able to carry out meter installation/replacement works.
We're looking for a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills, technical knowledge and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of the energy management strategy and policy, advising on best practice from a technical engineering aspect.
- Participate in reviews of the energy management strategy to ensure it is still relevant and reflects emerging technologies.
- Set a baseline energy consumption across ports assets, update the baseline when assets are added/removed or modified.
- Monitor energy usage against the established baseline and report to budget holder’s areas where performance is not achieving targets.
- Maintain accurate records of energy usage to allow trends to be identified.
- Provide technical advice as part of the design and delivery of new assets.
- Liaise with budget holders, carrying out education and training to enable them to identify areas for improvements.
- Research, propose and deliver trial technologies to improve energy performance of assets.
- Act as interface between users of energy systems and engineers, designers and maintainers on the effectiveness of new technologies.
- Maintain professional competence by keeping abreast of new developments, technologies, changes in standards and legislation that affect the use of energy.
- Assisting other members of the Engineering Technical Support Team as and when necessary.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- HNC, or equivalent, in Building Services Engineering, or equivalent technical qualifications and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of energy management practice, renewable technologies, mechanical installations, electrical services and BMS systems.
- IOSH managing safely or equivalent qualification.
- Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain highly complex technical information to non-technical colleagues.
- Current driving licence.

- Minimum joining age - 18
- You are not able to join the pension scheme once you reach Government of Jersey state retirement age
