Our client - a global automotive systems industry leader - is looking to hire a Principal AI Software Engineer (Java) to join them on an initial 6-month contract, with a view to transition to permanent employment. This role will be operating as part of a high-functioning team focused on AI-forward projects in which you will be implementing AI solutions and technologies, as well as incorporating AI into how your work on a daily basis (for example, Claude Code, Copilot). This role is remote-working (with some occasional visits to site), and will be operating inside IR35.
Requirements:
- Deep expertise with Java / Spring / AWS
- Hands-on production grade experience - or least PoC for LLM's
- Creating agents and creating code that can run on production as AI agents
- Customer facing software/platform re-write experience
- Deep technical expertise in modern and AI-driven systems (engineering and architecture levels)
- Ownership of end-to-end, scalable architectures (some cloud-native, some on-prem still)
- Exceptional problem-solving and engineering judgment
- Strategic alignment with product and business outcomes
