Waking Night Residential Support Worker – Children's Home

Location:Southport
Salary: Β£27,750 per annum, plus overtime
Hours: Waking nights, 8:00pm–8:00am
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Experience: No previous care experience required

The opportunity

We are recruiting two Waking Night Residential Support Workers to join a well-established provider of residential care for children and young people.

You will work within a small, two-bed children's home supporting young people aged 7–17 who may have emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Previous experience is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided. We are looking for dependable, caring and resilient people who can create a safe and supportive environment throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting and safeguarding young people throughout the night.
  • Maintaining a calm, safe and welcoming home environment.
  • Completing regular welfare and safety checks.
  • Responding appropriately to incidents, concerns or emergencies.
  • Supporting young people who may wake or require reassurance during the night.
  • Following individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Completing accurate handovers, records and incident reports.
  • Undertaking light household duties to ensure the home is ready for the following day.
  • Working closely with colleagues and contributing to a consistent approach to care.
  • Promoting the dignity, independence and wellbeing of every young person.

About you

We would like to hear from applicants who are:

  • Reliable and comfortable remaining awake and alert throughout a 12-hour night shift.
  • Calm and resilient when responding to challenging situations.
  • Able to communicate clearly and maintain accurate records.
  • Willing to complete all required training and development.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a residential care team.
  • Committed to safeguarding and delivering high-quality care.

No formal qualifications or previous experience are required.

A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. Following successful completion of probation, the employer may be able to support eligible employees with driving lessons through a company loan arrangement.
