With a smaller family caseload than is typically found in a busy Local Authority team, this role offers more time to understand each family, assess parenting capacity and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations. The opportunity You will work with parents and children completing structured 12-week residential parenting assessments . Through direct work, observations and ongoing assessment, you will build a detailed understanding of each family's strengths, support needs and risks. This would suit a Social Worker who enjoys child and family assessment, safeguarding and analytical report writing. What you'll be doing Completing parenting and family assessments within a residential setting. Working directly with parents and children to assess parenting capacity. Identifying strengths, risks and areas where families need support. Gathering and analysing evidence through observations and direct work. Producing clear, analytical reports and recommendations focused on children's welfare. Working closely with residential staff, Local Authority Social Workers and other professionals. Contributing to meetings, reviews and multidisciplinary discussions. What you'll need A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration. Relevant experience working with children and families. Strong assessment, safeguarding and report-writing skills. The ability to analyse evidence and make sound professional recommendations. Willingness to travel between services when required. Experience in Children & Families, Child Protection, Assessment, Child in Need, Looked After Children, Court/PLO or Family Assessment would be particularly relevant.
