Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager, or a strong Deputy Manager ready to step up, to lead a small residential children's home in the South West Hampshire area. The home provides a calm, nurturing environment for a small number of children with complex emotional and behavioural needs. The service follows a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach, including principles based around PACE/DDP.

This is an opportunity to take responsibility for a well-supported home while having access to an experienced senior leadership team and Responsible Individual.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the home, ensuring it delivers consistently high standards of care in accordance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the home and maintaining high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance
  • Providing visible leadership and direction to the staff team
  • Promoting positive outcomes for the children within the home
  • Embedding a therapeutic and child-centred approach
  • Recruiting, supervising, developing and retaining a strong staff team
  • Managing staff performance, supervision and appraisals
  • Maintaining and developing the home's Statement of Purpose
  • Managing rotas, budgets and operational requirements
  • Participating in the management on-call rota
  • Leading audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement
  • Developing a positive culture within the home
  • Working effectively with Ofsted, local authorities and other professionals

About You

We would be interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • At least 3 years' experience within residential childcare
  • Previous management or Deputy Manager experience within a registered children's home
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or currently working towards it
  • Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing residential childcare teams
  • Good safeguarding knowledge and professional judgement
  • Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs, trauma or complex presentations would be particularly relevant.
  • Experience of therapeutic approaches such as PACE or DDP would also be advantageous, although further training and development can be provided.
