About the Role
Our client is looking to recruit two Residential Support Workers to join a specialist children's residential home supporting young people with complex additional needs.
This is a rewarding yet challenging opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require consistency, patience and therapeutic support.
The home supports young people with:
- Autism
- Severe learning disabilities
- Complex communication needs
- Behaviours of concern linked to anxiety and emotional dysregulation
The young people are non-verbal and require highly individualised support to help them feel safe, understood and achieve positive outcomes.
About the Young Person You'll Be Supporting
You will primarily support a young person with complex needs who requires a high level of emotional support, structure and reassurance.
The role includes supporting a young person who:
- Has Autism and severe learning disabilities.
- Has complex communication needs.
- Requires support to regulate emotions and manage anxiety.
- May display behaviours of concern, including physical aggression and self-injurious behaviour.
- Requires support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care.
- Builds trusting relationships over time through consistency, patient and a therapeutic approach.
The service believes that all behaviour is communication, and successful candidates will share this person-centred, trauma-informed approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Provide consistent emotional support and co-regulation.
- Support all aspects of daily living, including personal care.
- Promote independence wherever possible.
- Respond safely and professionally to behaviours of concern.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent, high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning.
What We're Looking For

- Children's residential care
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Supporting children and young people who display behaviours of concern

Essential Requirements
- Experience working within children's residential care or a similar specialist setting.
- Experience supporting young people with complex needs.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
- Willingness to provide personal care.
- A full UK driving licence is preferred, although exceptional non-drivers will also be considered.
