  • Support young people's access to education, healthcare, therapeutic services and activities.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, families, social workers and other professionals.
  • Encourage young people to express their views and participate in decisions about their care.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation.
  • Support quality assurance, audits and preparation for inspections.
  • Assist with budgets, resources and maintaining a safe home environment.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide occasional cover at other homes within the organisation.

What We're Looking For

You will need:

  • At least one year's experience in a Senior or supervisory role within a residential children's home.
  • A relevant Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in children and young people's residential care or health and social care, or the ability to achieve the required qualification within your first year of employment.
  • Experience supervising or managing staff.
  • Experience managing resources, including staffing, rotas and budgets.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding, care planning, risk management and the regulations applicable to children's homes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm when managing challenging situations.
  • A practical, flexible approach and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for young people.
  • A driving licence.
  • Flexibility to undertake on-call duties and support other homes when required.

A relevant Level 5 leadership and management qualification, therapeutic experience and experience of Ofsted inspections would be advantageous.

  • £50 for each sleep-in.
  • 28 days' annual leave per year.
  • Workplace pension.
  • Business mileage paid at an agreed rate.
  • Support from the Registered Manager and wider management team.
  • Opportunities to contribute to staff development and improvements within the service.

Overtime is paid at the agreed hourly rate. The role is subject to a six-month probationary period.
