We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic, and compassionate General Practice Nurse to join our friendly multidisciplinary team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse with previous experience working in General Practice who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and enjoys working autonomously while being part of a supportive clinical team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive range of nursing services to our patient population and play a key role in the ongoing delivery of chronic disease management and preventative healthcare.

  • Chronic disease management, including respiratory conditions (asthma and COPD), diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.
  • Respiratory reviews, inhaler technique assessments and patient education.
  • Cervical cytology (desirable).
  • Contraception/HRT reviews.
  • Immunisations and vaccinations.
  • Wound care and dressings.
  • General Practice Nurse treatment room duties.
  • Ear irrigation (where trained).
  • Venepuncture and ECGs.
  • Spirometry (If trained)
  • Lifestyle advice and health promotion.
  • Infection prevention and control responsibilities.
  • Participation in quality improvement initiatives and QOF achievement.

Experience

Essential

  • Has worked in General Practice.
  • Chronic disease management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Proficient in General Practice Nurse treatment room duties.

Desirable

  • Chronic disease diplomas or relevant specialist qualifications.
  • Experience using EMIS Web.
  • Experience with Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF).
  • Experience supporting HCAs or junior staff.
  • Spirometry ARTP registered.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Is a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Has previous experience working within General Practice (essential).
  • Has experience managing long-term conditions, particularly respiratory disease (essential).
  • Is confident managing patients independently within agreed protocols.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is organised, adaptable and able to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Demonstrates a compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Is committed to continual professional development.

  • Chronic disease diplomas or relevant specialist qualifications.
