We are seeking multiple Specialist Learning Support Assistants to join our team here at Portland Charity. We are looking to recruit two different types of Specialist Learning Support Assistants covering two specialisms: Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Employability.
Role Overview
As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant (PBS), you will have a direct impact on the learner experience and will collaborate effectively with delivery staff to advance the learner successfully through their curriculum framework and support any challenges faced during the college day. Specialist Learning Support Assistants (Employability) will support our learners to access vocational subjects and work experience placements both on and off campus, ensuring that learners make progress and work positively towards their goals.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate a range of learning activities.
- Support learners to develop knowledge, skills and reach their full potential.
- Collaborate with delivery staff to help learners progress through the curriculum framework.
- Address challenges faced by learners during the college day.
- Assist learners in accessing vocational subjects and workplace placements.
- Ensure learners progress towards personal goals.
Qualifications
- Hold NAPPI (Non‑Abusive Psychological & Physical Intervention) Level 2 or equivalent, or be willing to work towards it within an agreed timescale.
- Level 2 Maths & English Functional Skills and ICT Skills qualification or be willing to work towards this in an agreed timescale.
- Strong communication skills.
- Desirable experience working with individuals with behaviour support needs.
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and to provide proof of right to work in the UK.
- Valid DBS check and not listed on the child or adult barred lists.
