We are looking for a qualified electrician to join our friendly Estates team here at Portland Charity. This person will be able to confidently undertake planned and general electrical maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, and play a part in ensuring our campus buildings are safe and secure for our learners, citizens and staff.

The successful candidate will be experienced in reactive and preventative electrical maintenance and installation and will possess a range of practical tangential skills, with additional knowledge around CCTV, badge security systems, fire alarm, etc. During the working day, you will come into contact with Portland Charity staff, learners and citizens, therefore it is important that you have a friendly and professional approach.

Alongside day‑to‑day maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, we are also looking for someone who will play a crucial role in mentoring and developing our apprentices, so we hope to find someone with experience in mentoring, and a calm and supportive approach in sharing their knowledge and skills.

This role is primarily based at our Main Campus in Mansfield; however, you may sometimes be required to work at our multiple sites across Nottingham to meet service demands. As this role may involve travel between sites, a full and valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications and Skills Needed
  • Recognised Level 3 qualification in electrical installation or similar
  • AM2 Electrotechnical Assessment of Occupational Competence
  • Electrical Wiring Regulations 18th Edition
  • Valid UK Driver’s Licence
Working Hours

37.5 hours – Monday to Friday on a rota shift pattern between the hours of 6:00am – 7:00pm, with an on‑call rota for weekends (on a rotation basis).
