We are outstanding, you can be too. Here at Portland Charity’s Woodland Adventure Zone, we offer a variety of exciting outdoor activities and team building events designed to challenge and inspire.
As a seasonal Activities Coordinator, you will play a key role in organising, supporting and delivering a range of adventure activities for our learners and citizens as well as external clients. This will involve taking a leading role in our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme during college half term times. Our centre has a bespoke outdoor wall with climbing, abseil and a quick flight. We are also proud to introduce some new activities to our centre, including a bike trail and an archery range. We have a thrilling zip line through the trees and an area dedicated to bushcraft skills and team building. The successful candidate needs to be confident to work at height and in a vibrant outdoor environment. As we deliver inclusive sessions for all, the ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with adults and children with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver adventure activities for learners, citizens and external clients.
- Take a leading role in the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme during college half term times.
- Work safely at height and manage a vibrant outdoor environment.
- Ensure inclusive sessions for all participants, including adults and children with disabilities.
- Collaborate effectively with team members while working independently to keep daily operations running smoothly.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Qualification such as Archery GB, Climbing wall or Rock climbing instructor, Bushcraft or completed an apprenticeship.
Desirable
- Climbing wall or Development Instructor qualification.
- Experience working with additional needs groups, including wheelchair users.
- Other relevant NGB outdoor activity courses such as Archery.
- Valid First Aid certificate from a minimum of a 2 day course suitable for outdoor environments.
Working Hours
Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm.
Additional Information
We are a seasonal role with a fixed term end date. As part of our pre‑employment checks, we will carry out a full enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
