We are looking for a diligent and enthusiastic Housekeeper to join our Domestic team in maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene for our learners and citizens across the college campus. This role will be based at our main site, but some travel may be required to our other sites across Nottinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness for residential accommodation and learning facilities across the college campus.
  • Perform Legionella water flushing and reduce the spread of infection in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Work with COSHH substances and manual handling of cleaning equipment.
  • Use your own initiative and problem‑solving skills while working both independently and as part of a small team of housekeepers.
  • Communicate effectively with Portland Charity staff, learners and citizens.
  • Show a friendly and helpful approach when in contact with staff, learners and citizens.

Working Conditions

This is an active role that involves being on your feet and moving around the college campus throughout the day. You will need a minimum level of basic health and safety knowledge and a good level of written communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Vocational qualification in Domestic Services (or willingness to work towards this within a required timescale).

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Safety Compliance and COSHH.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Moving & Handling training.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certification.

Working Hours

Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 2:00 pm; one Saturday every six weeks; some bank holidays.

Background Check and Right to Work

Enhanced DBS check (without barred lists) will be required. Successful applicants must provide proof of right to work in the UK.
