We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistive Technology Assistant to join our vibrant Education team at Portland College. This role is a key part of supporting learners to access technology, enhancing their independence and learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and report learners’ assistive technology needs during the initial assessment and baseline period.
  • Monitor the progress of learners' use of AT to support achievement.
  • Provide assistive technology support to aid independence in education and leisure time.
  • Deliver a range of learning sessions to small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
  • Manage and maintain Learners and FE staff SharePoint Sites.
  • Carry out off‑site visits, including but not exclusive to employers, learners’ homes and care providers, working alongside MDT / Therapy teams.
  • Contribute to reports (initial assessment, baseline, transition plans).
  • Liaise with external agencies to meet the technical needs of learners, including suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Maintain environments to meet Health and Safety requirements and standards.
  • Provide training to staff, families and carers in the use of technology.

Essential Qualifications

  • Maths and English at Level 2 or GCSE Grade C, or a willingness to work towards these qualifications within an agreed timescale.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Assistive Technology qualification, or willingness to work towards one as required for the role within an agreed timescale.

Working Hours

Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
