Portico Shipping is a deep‑water cargo terminal strategically located near major shipping channels, enabling efficient sea freight handling from ship to shore and direct motorway access for imports and exports across the UK and beyond. We are looking for an experienced and driven Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance Department. In this role you will be responsible for producing the final checked monthly Trial Balance/Profit & Loss reconciliation, Budget Monitoring Reports, deputising for the Group Finance Manager when absent, and supporting or covering for the Group Finance Assistants as needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the final checked monthly Trial Balance and Profit & Loss reconciliation.
- Create Budget Monitoring Reports.
- Deputise for the Group Finance Manager in their absence.
- Support and cover for Group Finance Assistants when required.
Qualifications / Experience
- Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA) – we will support further study for part‑qualified candidates.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role or in an accounting environment.
- Systems orientation: confident in using IT (Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Payroll, etc.) to improve efficiency.
- Team player with the ability to listen, train, and collaborate to develop efficiency.
- Conscientious, motivated to add value, and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong customer‑service attitude with high levels of internal and external stakeholder satisfaction.
- Influential decision‑maker within the scope of authority.
- Proactive team member who works collaboratively and maintains excellent working relationships.
- Detail‑oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Computer literate, confident with computerised accounting systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
