Our main hub is Queen Alexandra Hospital, one of the largest hospitals on the south coast with over 8,700 staff.
The successful consultant will adopt a flexible approach to job planning and engage in the provision of patient services to other specialties. The role is a sub‑specialist position within breast reconstruction and hand trauma. Candidates must have experience in breast reconstruction including microvascular techniques and should be able to operate as a second surgeon in free flaps; hand trauma experience is desirable. Effective communication within a multidisciplinary team, contribution to national profile via publications and presentations, and involvement in a 1:6 weekday on‑call rota are expected. The post will be a consultant contract, with a 10‑day working week and two operating sessions and two clinics per week, plus routine weekend working where possible. Part‑time application is possible. The position will be available from December 2026 pending satisfactory pre‑employment checks. Interview date tbc.

Qualifications
- Essential
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Professional Qualifications FRCS (Plastics) and/or EBOPRAS
- Desirable
- Microsurgery fellowship
Applicants must hold the Fellowship of one of the Royal Colleges or EBOPRAS and should have completed, or be within six months of completing, a training programme leading to specialist registration, with a specialist interest in breast reconstruction and/or hand surgery.
