About you

You are passionate about dementia care and ready to take the next step into a senior role within a healthcare setting, where you can further develop your skills, knowledge, and leadership.

You will bring

  • Proven experience in a senior role such as Senior Carer, Team Leader, or equivalent, with hands‑on experience caring for individuals living with Dementia.
  • An NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or Diploma in Health and Social Care).
  • A strong understanding of person-centred care planning and risk management tailored to individual residents or service users.
  • A cheerful, compassionate, and caring nature, with the ability to build trusting relationships with your care team, residents, and their families.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to clearly and professionally document and represent residents' needs through accurate care planning.

Above all, you are driven by a deep passion for dementia care, and a desire to lead by example, delivering continuous improvement and contributing to the high-quality care for which Porthaven is known.

About the role

In this vital role, you will treat our residents with the warmth, respect, and attentiveness you would show to members of your own family.

Each resident is a unique individual, and you will support them in a way that honours their personal routines, preferences, and needs.

  • Lead, inspire, and support a team of carers and senior carers, fostering a positive, can‑do attitude across your team.
  • Carry out regular care audits, analyse care trends and information, and lead care staff to ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Promote an open, transparent, and supportive culture, encouraging loyalty, commitment, and teamwork.
  • Deliver and lead on excellent, person-centered dementia care that upholds dignity, individuality, and the highest standards of professional practice.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, Porthaven's policies and procedures, and all relevant legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Home Manager, while also receiving support, guidance, and training from Porthaven's Head of Dementia through virtual and on-site meetings.
