Job Purpose: The Senior Engineering Buyer will lead procurement activities for their assigned division. They will be charged with procuring cutting-edge technologies used in manufacturing. The role sits within a dynamic team who collaborate to overcome technical and commercial challenges in pursuit of delivering world class products. You will ensure that procurement is efficient, cost effective and meets the needs of the business and its customers.
Job Description:
- Deliver direct procurement activities in collaboration with various Teams.
- Utilise subcontracts, supply contracts, quantity contracts and purchase orders to align supplier deliverables.
- Control and deliver the sourcing strategy for a selected group of technical materials/commodities.
- Ensure engineering best practice techniques are used to ensure that components are designed to optimise their manufacturing ease throughout the entire Supply Chain.
- Establish collaborative relationships that deliver an effective and efficient service to internal/external customers and suppliers.
- Manage supplier performance and quality using appropriate KPI's and development plans.
Key Skills and Experience required:
- Ability to positively collaborate with stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Demonstrable experience of evolving, negotiating, and agreeing contractual requirements and collaboration frameworks between internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Must have the ability to read technical drawings and have an understanding of metal components.
- Experience of working within a demanding, low volume, highly complex, high value project environment, ideally within the Space or Electronics Industry.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP ERP/MRP (or similar) would be highly advantageous.
- A good understanding of technical/clean room manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Demonstrable knowledge of procurement project and MRP production methods.
- Knowledge of wider supply chain, materials management, demand forecasting and engineering change management principles.
- Strong excel/data management skills.
- Knowledge of value engineering and cost down methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of supplier quality management techniques.
- MS Office proficient - Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, PowerPoint.
