Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our leading North Yorkshire based client to recruit for a Public Sector Procurement Manager.

Purpose of the role: The Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing and leading all my clients group Procurement activity. This is a business-critical role which will ensure that the business gains maximum value across all contracts and procurement exercises.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of procurement strategies that align with the organisation's overall objectives.
  • Oversee all procurement exercises, ensuring they are executed efficiently, in compliance with internal procedures and the latest Procurement Act and relevant procurement legislation, while delivering value for money.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, ensuring value for money in all procurement decisions.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to drive efficiencies and maximise growth and value across the organisation.
  • Manage the end-to-end contract management process, including drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers and support with the contracts.
  • Oversee the supplier performance review process, ensuring contracts are adhered to and service levels are met or exceeded.
  • Lead and mentor a team of two direct reports ensuring they are managing their duties and developing in their roles.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Procurement.
  • Knowledge and working experience of latest public sector and or charity legislation.
  • Experience and skilled in different negotiation techniques.
  • Previous experience of managing a team.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ideally qualified to MCIPS level.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence.
