Glazing Designer – High-End Residential & Commercial

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Glazing Designer to join a growing specialist glazing business working on high-end residential and commercial projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed drawings throughout the design and construction process, working closely with clients, architects, project teams and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.

You will be supported by an experienced team and will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of specialist glazing systems and progress within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review scopes of work, architects' drawings and project information to understand project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed 2D Auto CAD shop drawings for client review and approval.
  • Use existing standard details and develop project-specific drawings where required.
  • Liaise with clients, architects and internal project teams throughout the design process.
  • Respond promptly to technical queries and incorporate client comments and amendments into drawings.
  • Prepare construction issue drawings following site surveys or receipt of site measurements.
  • Produce take-offs and cutting lists for project management and procurement teams.
  • Support the handover of projects to the project management and procurement departments.
  • Provide technical and design information to Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage your own workload and ensure drawings and approvals are completed within required timescales.
  • Work towards individual targets relating to work in progress and approval values.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail across all design work.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in glazing, fenestration or a closely related construction trade, with the ability to understand how products and systems translate from design through to manufacture and installation.

You will need

  • 5+ years' relevant design experience.
  • Excellent Auto CAD 2D skills.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site survey information.
  • Previous experience within glazing, fenestration or a similar specialist construction environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong technical understanding and willingness to learn new products and systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise competing deadlines.
  • A structured and organised approach to workload management.
  • The confidence to communicate effectively with clients, architects and internal teams.
  • The ability to work towards individual and departmental targets.
