Job Description

CAD Designer

Location: Dartford, Kent
Holidays: 20 days plus Bank Holidays
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join an established design team, working on a range of commercial glazing projects including shopfronts, entrance systems and curtain walling.

The role will involve taking projects from initial survey information through to the production of detailed drawings for client approval, working closely with the Projects team to ensure designs are technically accurate, practical and delivered within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D Auto CAD drawings for shopfronts, entrances and curtain walling systems.
  • Take projects from initial survey information through to final approved drawings.
  • Interpret surveys, specifications, architectural drawings and technical information.
  • Develop accurate design solutions in line with project and structural requirements.
  • Liaise with clients and the Projects team to resolve technical and design queries.
  • Amend drawings following client comments and project changes.
  • Manage multiple projects and drawing deadlines.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate and suitable for manufacture and installation.
  • Identify potential design or technical issues and provide practical solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Auto CAD
  • Knowledge of Logikal would be advantageous
  • Profile knowledge such as: Schüco, Reynaers, Wicona, Technal, SAPA, Kawneer and Crittall,
  • Previous experience working in a CAD/design role within construction, glazing, architectural metalwork or a related sector.
  • Experience of shopfronts, aluminium framing, entrance systems, curtain walling or commercial glazing would be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret surveys, specifications and architectural drawings.
  • Good understanding of construction and structural requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Confident communicating with clients and internal project teams.
  • Able to manage your own workload and work effectively to deadlines.
  • Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
