We have an excellent opportunity for a Legal Support Assistant to join our Court of Protection and Management of Personal Affairs specialist team within our Private Client department in Taunton. This varied and interesting role is to provide effective and proactive assistance to the team to ensure that matters are run efficiently and with our clients’ needs at the forefront of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive support with matter management for the team.
- Accurately organising, scanning, and collating all incoming and outgoing post.
- Review client ID documents to ensure compliance with Money Laundering obligations and internal policies.
- Ensure all email correspondence and attachments are entered on to Peppermint and Matter Summary Sheets are updated accordingly.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a strict diary note of deadlines and timescales relevant to Legal Advisor(s) matters.
- Ensure all photocopying and scanning is accurate.
- Attend to clients and third parties on the phone and in person, accurately recording any messages and passing on to the appropriate person without delay.
- Provide proactive administrative support and matter management tasks that include but are not limited to keeping up to date with progress on matters; identifying follow up actions needed; proactively contributing to team billing and file closures where appropriate, WIP, disbursement and debts, file closure and residual balances.
- Document formatting and proof reading.
- Liaison with central support departments to proactively prevent and resolve problems on lawyers' behalf, taking ownership of the issue and following up where appropriate.
- Ownership of and active participation in regular departmental meetings.
- Work closely with the Marketing team with departmental event organising/event management.
- Undertake any additional duties which from time to time may be requested.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Working closely with the fee earners across the business, this role would best suit someone who is proactive and enthusiastic with great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels. The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, has a keen eye for detail and has excellent time management and prioritisation skills. Ideally you will have experience in a legal environment providing support to fee earners, but we welcome applications from those who feel they meet the skills and behaviour requirements.
