Portare Solutions is recruiting for a Communications & Engagement Manager on behalf of a values-led organisation operating within the public and not-for-profit space. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to shape how a diverse workforce connects to purpose, priorities and change — in an organisation where communication genuinely matters.
This is not a business-as-usual internal communications role. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening internal communications and employee engagement across a mixed workforce, including frontline operational teams and office-based colleagues. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and works closely with senior leaders to support clarity, engagement and organisational change. There will also be some interaction with external stakeholders where a broader communications or PR perspective is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading internal communications and engagement activity across the organisation
- Creating clear, accessible communications for a wide range of audiences
- Designing and delivering employee engagement campaigns
- Supporting senior leaders with clear, confident messaging
- Building effective two-way communication using insight and feedback
- Supporting communications through organisational change
- Managing and improving internal channels, including intranet, campaigns and frontline communications
- Using data and insight to measure impact and continuously improve communications
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrable experience in internal communications or employee engagement
- Proven experience delivering employee engagement campaigns
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders
- Ability to communicate complex or sensitive topics clearly and engagingly
- Experience using data, insight or feedback to improve communication effectiveness
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in a public sector or regulated environment
- Experience supporting communications through organisational change
- CIPR qualification (or equivalent)
What’s on Offer
- Generous annual leave
- Good Pension
- Hybrid working with an Oxford base
- A supportive, family-friendly working environment
- Purpose-driven work with a genuine impact on local communities
