This full-time role of Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Maintenance Manager with dotted line to the Engineering Manager. This role is based on site at Bathford Paper Mill.
Job Purpose:
The key role of the Mechanical Engineeris to support the engineering dept, to ensure safe and effective maintenance of Mill plant and equipment, both planned and corrective. You will facilitate and champion HSE, Lean Manufacturing and Walk the Floor activity and act as a customer champion for engineering issues associated with the running of the paper mill.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support to all production and service facilities.
- Liaise with the HSE & Security departments, ensure that legal and company standards for Safety, Environment and Site/Security are maintained and monitored.
- Ensure pro-active mechanical, electrical and instrument maintenance of plant and equipment to the highest achievable standard.
- Join the on-call rota to provide 24-hour engineering cover for mill operations.
- Investigate failures and carry out root cause analysis to provide permanent solutions to avoid repeats > Encourage a fixed & understood culture.
- Help plan and manage monthly and annual shutdowns.
- Supervise and direct contractors in both maintenance and project capacities.
- Provide support in development of multi-skilled shift maintenance personnel.
- Liaise with process personnel on process improvements.
- Identify engineering materials requirements for improvement projects.
- Carry out site installation of new equipment as well as modification of existing equipment and plant.
- Management of spares, stores and purchasing of items.
- Develop and maintain the site engineering CMMS database working to provide relevant maintenance schedules and routines.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Formal qualifications at BSc, HND or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years relevant experience involved in the leadership a multi-skilled engineering team within a process industry
- IT literacy to allow for access and interrogation of PC based systems, CMMS management systems and the recording of engineering compliance related data.
- Knowledge of services as well as process plant equipment.
- Formal HSE qualification preferably NEBOSH. However, support will be provided to achieve this.
- First Aid at Work certificate
