Portakabin are looking for a Welder to join our Production department based in York. You will work in our Metal Fabrication department ensuring high standards of compliance with quality, technical specification, customer service and environmental requirements. Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritised and facilitated.

Role Details:

  • Hourly Rate: £16.56 + fixed bonus scheme £2.16ph
  • Role based: New Lane, York
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Annual leave: 24 days of annual leave plus bank holidays

In this role you will be required to:

  • Welding within the Metal Fabrication Department ensuring all work areas are clean and tidy to achieve a safe working environment and an orderly standard.
  • Be thorough in the separation and segregation of waste to meet environmental requirements.
  • Reading drawings and Technical Specifications.
  • Work effectively as part of a team with all internal customers to ensure timescales for completing work are achieved and quality standards reached.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation, codes of practice, industry guidelines and/or Company Procedures/Policies relating to Health and Safety, inclusive of COSHH.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, and other operational data required by Production Team Leader.
  • Ensure that all laid Quality systems e.g. ISO 9001 & 14001 are adhered to.
  • Support continuous improvement to ensure the area is always looking at the best way to carry out a task.

  • Experience gained within a Metal Fabrication Department
  • Strong operational experience related to trade/role
  • Welding experience using MIG and MMA techniques
  • Good level of numeracy/literacy
