Portakabin are looking for a Planning Manager with legislation experience to join our successful planning team in St Albans. As an experienced Planning Manager you will contribute to Portakabin’s planning strategy, influence external decision makers, and manage the preparation of high quality planning submissions to support our building solutions.
Role Details:
- Annual salary up to £35,000 - £41,000 - dependent on skills and experience.
- Commission
- Role based: East of England (London East, London North, East Midlands) but St Albans preferred.
- Permanent
- Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and opportunity to buy an additional 5 days each year.
In this role you will be required to:
- Oversee the preparation and submission of planning applications, supporting statements, site plans and appeal documentation.
- Provide expert advice on planning legislation, policy and material considerations, including permitted development and local plan interpretation.
- Support the business’s order winning activities, advising at bid stage on planning risk, opportunity and programme.
- Manage processes and procedures related to Master Data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Drive the modernisation and continuous improvement of planning and master data functions.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce programme lead times and improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee the maintenance and optimal use of the ERP system.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations impacting planning activities.
- Take ownership of information and data management, ensuring data quality and accessibility.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in town planning, development management or planning consultancy within the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Experience preparing or contributing to planning applications and supporting documentation.
- A commercial mindset, with experience supporting bids, development opportunities or order winning.
- Strong ability to analyse and interpret technical information from multiple sources.
- Strong communication, organisational and IT skills, with proficiency in relevant software and tools.
- Degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Expert knowledge of operating CAD systems, with the ability to provide guidance and advice to peers.
