We are looking for a HIAB Driver to join us full-time, at our site in Bacton near Stowmarket, Suffolk. If you’re an experienced HIAB Driver, we’d love to hear from you. Previous experience and HIAB Certification is preferred, though training can be provided to the right candidate.

About the role:
As our Class 1 Driver / Crane Operator/ HIAB Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of our portable accommodation units, plant and materials. Working as part of our transport team, you will operate a HIAB (lorry loader) vehicle to ensure every job is completed safely, on time and to the highest standard. You will represent Portable Space with professionalism, uphold safety standards and ensure customer satisfaction at every stage in a full-time position based at our Bacton depot working 37 hours per week, plus overtime rate which is time and a quarter Monday - Friday, Saturday is time and half, and Sunday is double time.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and visual inspections of lifting equipment, reporting any defects immediately.
- Operate the HIAB (lorry loader) safely, following all guidelines and site-specific requirements.
- Perform collections and deliveries of portable units, machinery, and materials to customer sites.
- Conduct all lifting operations with full regard for safety and site-specific risks.
- Drive responsibly and courteously, ensuring compliance with transport legislation and tachograph regulations.
- Maintain a clean, professional vehicle, report health and safety concerns, and be flexible to undertake night outs as required.
About you:
You are a safety-conscious, reliable, and motivated Class 1 Driver / Crane Operator/ HIAB Driver who takes pride in your work. Able to work independently and as part of a team, whilst remaining calm under pressure, and are committed to maintaining high standards in all you do. You will hold a valid UK Class 1 HGV / Category C+E Licence, a Driver CPC Qualification, and a Digital Tachograph Card. A HIAB (Lorry Loader) Certification is preferred, though training can be provided to the right candidate. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety and load security, excellent spatial awareness, communication, and customer service skills, and a professional, courteous manner with the ability to assess risk on-site. Desirable extras include a CSCS Card, Forklift or Telehandler licence, and First Aid qualification, although these are not essential.
