Central Operations Coordinator, UK Parcel Delivery in London

Central Operations Coordinator, UK Parcel Delivery in London

London Full-Time No working from home possible
Port

The Role:

Port runs last-mile parcel delivery operations in London. The Ops Coordinator role sits at the centre of the operation when it’s live. You’re the person couriers call when something goes wrong mid-shift. You watch the CCTV feeds, handle escalations, communicate with the client, log incidents, and confirm hubs are secure at the end of day.

We’re hiring these roles as we build the central ops team, which means the work is broader than a steady-state version of this role would be. Alongside the real-time ops work, Ops Coordinators will cover recruitment and onboarding admin, scheduling support, and courier performance conversations until dedicated hires are in place for those functions. If you want a role where the job is still being defined and you’re comfortable picking things up as needed, that’s what this is.

Three positions are open with staggered shifts covering 9am–5pm or 1pm-9pm.

What you'll do:

Live operations

  • Answer courier calls and messages during live shifts — resolve parcel issues, access problems, and whatever else comes up in real time
  • Monitor CCTV feeds across hubs and respond to security or operational concerns
  • Communicate with the client on parcel delivery issues, discrepancies, and escalations
  • Log incidents accurately throughout the shift
  • Confirm end-of-day hub security for hubs without an Associate on site

Courier performance and debriefs

  • Carry out remote performance conversations with couriers when directed by the Operations Manager - flagging concerns clearly and logging outcomes
  • Run end-of-shift debriefs with returning couriers when Hub Associates are unavailable or when issues need a remote follow-up

Recruitment and onboarding

  • Manage the inbound courier application pipeline - screen applicants, make initial contact, and progress them to the next stage
  • Collect and verify courier documentation and run compliance checks before onboarding
  • Coordinate with Hub Associates to schedule and confirm on-site onboarding days for new starters
  • Handle offboarding admin for couriers leaving the platform and manage re-engagement of inactive couriers

What we're looking for:

The most important thing is that you’re calm under pressure and can switch between tasks without things slipping. A live incident mid-shift doesn’t pause the onboarding inbox.

  • Experience in an operations, logistics, or customer-facing role where you were responsible for resolving issues in real time - courier operations, dispatch, contact centre, field ops, or similar
  • Confident communicator - comfortable having direct conversations with couriers about performance or conduct, not just reactive queries
  • Organised enough to manage admin work (onboarding pipelines, scheduling) alongside a live operational environment
  • Good judgement: you’ll often be making calls without time to escalate
  • Comfortable with digital tools - you’ll be across calls, chat, a shift log, and CCTV simultaneously
  • Willingness to work shifts (9am–5pm, 1pm–9pm)

Experience in last-mile delivery, dispatch, or logistics coordination is a plus. So is experience managing a pipeline of people - whether that’s recruitment, scheduling, or contractor management.
