The Role: As a Hub Associate, you are Port's physical presence at the hub. You open up, brief the couriers, make sure dispatch runs on time, handle whatever comes up during the shift, and close out returns at the end of the day. You're the person couriers see every morning and afternoon - which means how you communicate, how you hold the standard, and how you handle problems matters a lot. Your job is to execute on the ground: run the shift well, represent Port to couriers clearly, and act on direction from the ops team when performance conversations need to happen.
How the Shifts Work: Hubs operate on a morning shift (approximately 8am–1pm) and an afternoon shift (approximately 2pm–7pm). Associates typically cover one shift per day, though some cover both at the same hub or a morning at one hub and an evening at another. Hours and days per week are flexible - this can work as a part-time role or a full-time one depending on availability and hub coverage needs. Weekend availability is expected.
What you'll do:
- Morning shift
- Receive the InPost parcel delivery and verify counts
- Brief couriers on their routes and dispatch them on time
- Handle any access issues, late arrivals, or swap-outs at the start of the shift
- Log any handover issues and communicate them to Central Ops
- Afternoon shift
- Receive courier returns and verify parcel completion
- Receive delivery of additional parcels to be delivered (if applicable)
- Brief couriers on their routes and dispatch them on time
- Handle end-of-day issues - missing parcels, failed deliveries, equipment problems
- Secure the hub and complete the shift log
- Across both shifts
- Onboard new couriers on their first day - walk them through the hub, the process, and what's expected
- Carry out performance conversations with couriers when directed by the operations team
- Maintain the hub - clean, organised, and compliant at all times
- Escalate anything you can't resolve yourself to Central Ops immediately
What we're looking for: You don't need to have run a logistics operation before. What matters is that you show up reliably, communicate clearly, and can hold a direct conversation with someone who isn't meeting the standard. Strong candidates will have:
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment where punctuality and follow-through are non-negotiable — delivery, hospitality, retail, security, or similar
- Confident, direct communication — couriers need to respect the standard you represent, and that comes from how you show up
- The ability to stay calm and make quick calls when things go wrong at the start of a shift
- Basic comfort with digital tools — you'll use apps and a shift log daily
- Availability for early morning starts and weekends
- Experience managing or supervising other people is a strong plus. It's not required, but if you've led a team before — even informally — tell us about it.
