Hub Deployment Associate

Hub Deployment Associate

Full-Time On-site
P

Location: London (hub and office based, with regular travel to sites)

Type: Full-time, permanent

Team: Operations Reports to: Global Launch & Infrastructure Manager

Travel: Regular travel to hubs and sites across London and other UK cities, plus occasional travel to France

PORT is building the infrastructure for the future of last-mile delivery. We operate a growing

network of urban charging hubs, powered by our own charging technology, and rent electric

bikes to couriers across London and Manchester. We are scaling fast this year, opening new

hubs across the UK and launching in new markets including Paris and Birmingham, and rolling

out battery charging and swapping cabinets across our sites.

The Role

We are looking for a junior Hub Deployment Coordinator to own the technical delivery of our hub

infrastructure. You will take new sites from survey to go-live, own the electrical design and

installation, and keep our live hubs running reliably. Because our charging hardware is designed

in‑house, you will also get involved with the R&D that makes each hub denser, safer, and more

This is a hands‑on role for someone early in their career who wants real ownership. You will

spend your time between site (surveys, installs, commissioning, troubleshooting) and the desk

(designs, layouts, documentation), with the support of experienced colleagues and specialist

contractors.

What You'll Do

Electrical design and hub deployment:

  • Own the electrical design for new hub installs: load calculations, distribution, chargercircuits, and metering, designed to relevant standards.
  • Run electrical and internet feasibility assessments and site surveys ahead of go-live.
  • Prepare hub layouts, positioning bike racks, chargers, power distribution, and traffic flow to get the most out of each site.
  • Manage on‑site installation of wiring, cages, chargers, access control, internet, routers, and telemetry.
  • Commission and sign off electrical systems, and lead troubleshooting when faults arise on live hubs.

Contractor and vendor management:

  • Coordinate and supervise electrical and other trade contractors on site.
  • Review contractor designs, method statements, and quotes to ensure quality and value.
  • Handle simple procurement of parts, tools, and equipment.

Upgrades, R&D and innovation:

  • Deliver infrastructure upgrades on live hubs: power capacity increases, new racks, and fibre installs.
  • Engage with the relevant DNOs and energy companies to enable budget and formal upgrade quotations.
  • Support the rollout of battery charging and swapping cabinets across the network.
  • Contribute to R&D projects such as high‑density layouts, power capacity expansion, energy monitoring, smarter access systems, and CCTV or sensor pilots.
  • Run field trials, document findings, and help turn them into repeatable rollout playbooks.

Documentation and handover:

  • Maintain electrical documentation, as-builts, and the launch tracker so every project's status is clear.
  • Provide technical input to permitting and compliance processes, including the pre‑installation approvals required in some markets.
  • Ensure a clean handover of each launched hub to operations and maintenance teams.

What We're Looking For - Must-haves:

  • A degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Around 1 to 3 years of project or electrical engineering experience (strong placement, internship, or graduate experience considered).
  • A working understanding of low‑voltage electrical systems, power distribution, and the relevant UK wiring standards (BS 7671 / 18th Edition).
  • Genuinely hands‑on: comfortable on site, in warehouses, and doing practical work, not desk‑only.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep several parallel deployments on track.
  • A bias for action and autonomy: you unblock yourself and chase things down.
  • Happy to travel regularly to UK sites, including outside London and occasionally to France.
  • Confident with everyday software (G‑Suite, spreadsheets) and tidy with data.

Bonus:

  • 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification, or working towards it.
  • Experience with EV charging infrastructure, battery systems, or power electronics
  • Comfort with CAD or layout tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar).
  • Background in micromobility, logistics, telecom, or physical infrastructure deployment.
  • French language, to help support our France launch.

How You Work

  • You are operationally obsessed and love building reliable, repeatable systems.
  • You are both execution-focused and curious, happy managing today's install and improving tomorrow's design.
  • You take pride in quality infrastructure and a strong sense of ownership over what you deliver.
  • You switch easily between fieldwork, warehouse visits, and laptop execution.
  • You are resourceful, calm under pressure, and think two or three steps ahead.

Why Join Us

You will be joining a team building a new kind of urban infrastructure, working on tangible

engineering projects with real‑world impact. You will own a growing part of how our network gets

built, get exposure to proprietary hardware and R&D, and grow as we scale across the UK and
