Global Energy Services Holding (GESH) is undergoing targeted structural expansion to accelerate our leadership in Energy Transition and Renewables. As part of this strategy, GESH is developing new capabilities and strengthening its technical core to meet the growing demand for integrated port infrastructure, fabrication and services across the UK and internationally.
Through the transformation and expansion of the Port of Nigg in the Cromarty Firth, GESH has established a world-class facility capable of supporting offshore wind farm and tidal energy construction, including heavy lift marshalling, pre-assembly, and large-scale fabrication. To date, this infrastructure has contributed to the successful delivery of four offshore wind farms and hosts a range of tidal and fabrication tenants, with ongoing support secured for future offshore and onshore projects through the decade and beyond.
About the Role
GESH is recruiting a Business Development – Markets & Technology Lead to support the development, tendering, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects across offshore wind logistics, fabrication and port operations. Based in Edinburgh, this cross-functional role works directly with senior leadership across operations, commercial, market intelligence, and proposals.
You will help shape the engineering and commercial strategies that underpin GESH's project delivery models, contributing to marshalling, fabrication, special development projects, market and supply chain insight. The role is ideal for candidates who can combine technical depth with structured thinking and meaningfully contribute to GESH business development growth profile, project planning, value creation, research, and stakeholder engagement.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as a technical and market facing Business Development lead, maintaining direct engagement with developers, OEMs, fabricators, vessel operators, ports, and regulators to inform opportunity shaping, early-stage positioning, and scope definition.
- Undertake targeted market and supply chain analysis across offshore wind ports, fabrication, logistics, vessels, and execution cycles, translating intelligence into actionable recommendations on development priorities, risk mitigation, and capital allocation.
- Develop a value proposition for large scale renewables opportunities by combining market insight, client knowledge, and technical understanding into coherent, differentiated solutions engineering narratives.
- Provide technical input and credibility on complex renewables enquiries, ensuring GESH remains recognised as a trusted advisor in value creation through integrated engineering, logistics, and infrastructure solutions.
- Support and shape tender submissions, funding applications, and strategic development proposals, ensuring alignment between technical feasibility, market demand, delivery risk, and investment returns.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary project and investment reviews, guiding logistics, infrastructure, and execution planning from feasibility through delivery using robust data, transparent assumptions, and risk-based insight.
- Lead scenario and project planning to optimise sequencing, throughput, and space utilisation across fabrication and offshore wind campaigns, underpinning utilisation led investment cases and scalable growth strategies.
- Develop, validate, and assure technical procedures and method statements, incorporating operational capability, integrated project strategies for floating and fixed offshore wind, supply chain constraints, metocean considerations, operational risk, and cost sensitivity.
- Develop and maintain cost bases, logistics assumptions, and operational benchmarks for estimates, business cases, and client proposals, ensuring clear traceability between scope, cost drivers, and commercial outcomes.
- Build and maintain data driven analytical models to support strategic decision making, including demand forecasting, utilisation modelling, comparative port and site assessments, and financial and operational sensitivity analysis.
- Engage with academic, research, and industry partners to deliver structured analysis, white papers, and thought leadership outputs that reinforce GESH's technical authority and evidence-based market positioning.
- Author and contribute to technical responses, strategy papers, and investment narratives that clearly connect engineering methodology, logistics strategy, and commercial rationale for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Requirements
Essential:
- Degree-qualified in a relevant technical discipline such as engineering, science or offshore related subject (e.g. Naval Architecture).
- Professional experience in designing, operating or analysing offshore wind logistics, heavy marine transport, or energy infrastructure. Strong track record in supply chain development and vendor engagement across port logistics, heavy component handling, fabrication support, and marine operations.
- Proven ability to develop robust technical documentation including method statements, assembly plans, and operational procedures.
- Demonstrated capability in research and analysis, with the ability to synthesise findings into strategic insights.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, risk management, and operational planning across port-based scopes including storage, fabrication, staging, and load-out.
- Excellent communication and writing skills for technical reports, client interaction, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to develop considered technical strategies and draft structured responses for tenders, client engagement, and funding applications across a range of infrastructure scopes.
- Good working knowledge of offshore wind supply chain movements, logistics sequencing, and key project delivery constraints at port level.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working with or within academic research projects or technical publication authorship.
- Familiarity with grant writing, investment planning, or public-private funding environments.
- Experience in offshore wind project development timelines, contracting models, and regulatory frameworks.
- Exposure to infrastructure layout planning, including tools for yard utilisation and logistics simulation.
