We are seeking to recruit for the role of Security Relief at Pembroke Dock Ferry Terminal (PDFT). This role will provide security across several different areas within the Ferry Terminal:
- Search Team Operative: To search and maintain an overt security presence that will prevent the transport of weapons and explosives, which could endanger lives of those using Ship and Terminal.
- Terminal Operative: Customer liaison and processing of ferry foot and vehicle traffic.
- Gatehouse Operative: Ensuring security with Pembroke Dock Ferry Terminal and control entry and exit points to the terminal.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Search passengers, luggage, and vehicles.
- Search freight vehicles.
- Confiscate weapons and other prohibited items.
- Control access to the Port and Restricted Zone.
- Document searches, incidents, and confiscations.
- Welcome Irish Ferries passengers.
- Deal with customer enquiries and provide up to date sailing information.
- Check and process passenger ticket and documentation.
- Check in vehicles and foot passengers.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures. Follow SEMS procedures.
- Marshal traffic and safely manage vehicle through various areas within the port.
- Liaise with Irish Ferries, Border Force, and the Police.
- Cleaning of facilities including passenger terminal and surrounding area.
- Adhere to security requirements of ISPS.
- Cover other roles within the security team when required.
- Other duties of a similar level as required.

- Ability to stay calm and polite in difficult circumstances.
- Full driving licence.
- Ability to maintain and accurately record data exactly in line with procedure.

- Basic ITC skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- This post entails working outside in bad weather conditions.
- The post holder will require clearance and must not have a criminal record.
- The nature of this post necessities flexibility in working hours due to altering sailing times.
- This post entails a combination of 12 hour shifts (6am & 6pm starts) and split shifts (10.30am – 3.30pm, 10.30pm – 3.30am).
- This role is offered on a relief/flexible-hours basis, with work available to cover planned and unplanned absences, holidays and operational needs.
