Overview
As a Stevedore you will be trained and competent to operate a range of plant and equipment, to ensure the safe and efficient handling and storage of cargo loads. We are looking for individuals to carry out operations such as mooring, working on vessels and in the warehouse, as well as operating a range of mechanical lifting plant from a 2.4 tonne Forklift to a Pallet Truck. Previous experience and qualifications would be desirable. You will be required to work day and night 12 hour shifts over a 7 day operation in line with our vessels (various contracts available up to 36hrs per week plus overtime). Your shifts will be communicated to you on a weekly basis and you may be required to work at short notice.
Responsibilities
- Operate a range of plant and equipment to ensure safe and efficient handling and storage of cargo.
- Carry out mooring, work on vessels and in the warehouse.
- Operate lifting equipment from a 2.4 tonne Forklift to a Pallet Truck.
- Work day and night shifts on a 12 hour basis over a 7 day operation with overtime where applicable.
- Shifts communicated weekly and may be required to work at short notice.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Clear communication skills.
- Physically fit to climb ladders and work on vessels.
- Ability to work outside in all weathers.
- Ability to work shifts including weekends and nights.
- Previous experience in manual handling and lifting plant is desirable, but not essential as full training can be provided.
- Warehouse Operations experience (desirable).
- Reach Truck Operator (desirable).
- Hold a valid Forklift Truck Operator qualification (desirable).
- Mooring trained (desirable).
- Full UK driving license (desirable).
- All training can be provided in-house.
