The predicted salary is between 28000 - 32000 £ per year.

We are seeking permanent Multiskilled Operatives to fulfil diverse roles we have within our COAST team. Providing a multi-skilled service to our business sectors including Cargo, Cruise, Ferry and EES. This will be on an annualised hours contract basis starting on 16th March 2026. Hours will be on average 32 hours per week and you must be available to provide 24-hour cover. Some weeks you could work more hours, up to 48 hrs, and other weeks less than your average. Shift allocation will be based on operational requirements.

In this role, you will be expected to fulfil the mentioned below job roles along with any additional responsibilities to support the organisation. You will be informed of your shifts at least 3 weeks in advance, unless urgent cover is needed.

Duties for this position will include:

  • Mooring – securing vessels to the dock by tying/untying ropes (lines) to bollards
  • Slinger/Signaller – Attaching/detaching the load to and from lifting equipment initiating and directing the safe movement of the lifting equipment and load
  • Forklift operators – Manoeuvring goods around quayside and operational areas
  • Passenger access – Operating the ship to shore passenger access (airbridge)
  • Baggage handlers – Lifting luggage, assisting passengers to/from their vehicles
  • Traffic / EES Operatives – Directing traffic and acting as first point of contact for our customers, offering information and assistance with their journey through the port

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with one or more of the above skills would be an advantage, but not essential as full training would be given
  • Be able to work a range of shifts including weekends, as required
  • Physically active and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to deliver empathetic customer service in challenging situations
  • Full UK manual driving license is essential

Salary: £13.49p/h
