We are looking for an experienced Specialist Technician to join our Engineering Maintenance Team. You will act as a technical expert across multiple engineering disciplines, carrying out complex maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair work on a wide range of Port assets. This role involves supervising technicians and contractors, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring high safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repairs across Port assets.
- Act as a technical specialist in: Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Hydraulics, and Advanced Controls.
- Prepare RAMS, ensure safe systems of work, and maintain accurate ERP documentation.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver complex maintenance tasks, supervising up to 10 staff.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the wider team.
- Liaise with stakeholders and contractors on asset performance.
- Support training, crisis scenarios and project activities.
Participate in standby or shift rotas once fully competent and have a flexible approach to working hours and requirements to work overtime as required.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 4 e.g. HNC or equivalent qualification demonstrable experience (Mechanical), NFPC Stage 3 (Hydraulics), and EAL Level 3 in PLCs or equivalent.
- At least 3 years' hands-on experience in chosen specialism.
- PLC fault finding/programming (Siemens preferred), SCADA/BMS knowledge (for Controls).
- IOSH/SSSTS, knowledge of CDM, and supervisory experience.
- Strong IT skills, MEWP 1b/3b, full driving licence.
