As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Finance Manager’s team. Your responsibilities will include updating ledger postings for Port\’s assets, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and processing month-end journals. You’ll also prepare month-end accrual and prepayment schedules, contribute to the monthly management accounts, and assist with the audit of staff expenses. Your ability to manage peaks and troughs in workload will be essential, ensuring that team objectives are met on time.
Hours of Work
Full-time, with flexibility required during peak periods.
Responsibilities
- Update ledger postings for Port\’s assets
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations
- Process month-end journals
- Prepare month-end accrual and prepayment schedules

Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- AAT Level 3 (minimum) qualification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finance environment
- Proficient in computerised office systems, particularly Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a keen numerical aptitude
