The Port of Blyth, a modern statutory Trust Port, handles up to 1.5 million tonnes of cargo annually across various sectors and is set on an ambitious path of expansion. We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Marine Assistant to support our Marine Services department in this permanent role.

Applications are invited from individuals with the relevant qualities, experience & certification to fill the position of Night Shift Marine Assistant (Part Time). The Marine Assistant is responsible to the Harbour Master for the safe and efficient management of all marine activity within the Port of Blyth harbour limits. The successful candidate must be able to remain calm and professional during all operations and should demonstrate excellent communication skills.

The post will be part of a 5-person rota working a 365 day / 12-hour watch keeping system which includes weekend and public holiday working. This is a job share permanent night shift, approximately 2 shifts per week. Previous experience of marine navigation / Port operations would be desirable though consideration will be given to individuals from other associated backgrounds with the relevant skills and experience required.
