Our donors are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for a Senior Public Fundraising Officer (East) to join our team and help us build genuine, lasting connections with our supporters.

As a Senior Public Fundraising Officer (East), no day will be the same. You will be the primary point of contact for our supporters, providing the high-level care, advice, and encouragement that inspires them to champion our cause. You will take a lead role in developing initiatives to grow income across community groups, businesses, and schools. You will focus on East Kent, with potential travel across the county. You will also play a vital role in raising awareness by delivering compelling talks and building local networks that create enthusiasm for supporting our clients.

You will be based at our Canterbury office (with a required attendance of every Tuesday to collaborate with the team), you will also benefit from our hybrid working policy. Working closely with the Public Fundraising Manager, you will act as a spokesperson for our mission, turning engagement into action. Whether you are leading large-scale projects, mentoring colleagues, or managing volunteer speakers, your work will directly empower our supporters to help us change lives.

The role requires:

  • Public Speaking: Delivering compelling talks and representing Porchlight at functions and cheque presentations to raise awareness and drive fundraising activity.
  • Building Partnerships: Developing relationships with local businesses, schools, faith groups, and community clubs across Kent and Medway with a primary focus in East Kent.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruiting, training, and managing volunteer speakers and event volunteers to enhance donor experiences.
  • Project Leadership: Taking ownership of large-scale, people-focused fundraising projects and innovative new initiatives.
  • Impact Reporting: Using the Raiser’s Edge database to track progress against KPIs, manage donor data hygiene, and ensure every supporter is thanked personally.

Practical Requirements: You must have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Working pattern: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with some flexibility required.

Location type: On-site / hybrid working.

Contract type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week.

Interview date: 4th June 2026.

Please note, salaries are pro-rata for part-time positions. Our application form and interview process have been designed to assess your transferable skills rather than direct experience. This helps remove barriers for people who may have the right values, abilities, and potential but may not have formal experience in the role they’re applying for. We actively encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
