Populus are working with a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry who is looking for a Lead EC&I Engineer.

Purpose of the Role

The lead of the EC&I Engineering Department at a top-tier COMAH batch manufacturing chemical site leads a team to design, maintain, and optimize EC&I systems. They ensure compliance with safety regulations, manage projects, and drive continuous improvements while overseeing budgets and fostering professional development within the team.

  • Working with all departments to ensure safe operation and maintenance of plant.
  • Oversee and lead a team of electrical, control, and instrument engineers, ensuring optimal performance and professional development.
  • Handle all aspects of team management, including recruitment, conducting appraisals, managing annual leave, and ensuring the well-being and professional growth of team members.
  • Working with the senior engineers to provide technical leadership in electrical, control and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Manage time and allocate EC&I engineering resource to business functions including operational support, maintenance support, and projects.
  • Develop and maintain site standards and policies to ensure compliance with COMAH regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Overall responsible person for functional safety and drive business practices to ensure compliance with the relevant standards (IEC 61508 & 61511).
  • Overall responsible person for compliance with electrical regulations and standards including LV & HV safety, ATEX and LOTO.
  • Overall responsible person for OT cyber security, ensuring compliance and best practice to relevant standards (OG0086 & IEC 62443).

Education

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Desirable: Chartered Status, TUV FS Engineering Status.
